Supplying Artwork
Supplying a copy of your logo for scanning
If your logo comprises solid blocks of black or a colour we can usually successfully scan logos from a printed sample such as a letterhead. Please note the sample sent should be professionally printed not just run off a typical office printer. Logos with graduated shading really need to be supplied in digital format (see below) wherever possible.
Supplying your logo digitally
Ideally please supply logos as Illustrator EPS files.
Alternatively bitmapped files can usually be used, such as a TIFF or even a JPEG. Bitmapped files must be a minimum of 300dpi at the actual size to be printed. If your logo is colour and you need us to separate out the colours from a bitmapped file the higher the resolution the better. (Line work, solid black only, should be supplied at 800dpi minimum.
Please do not supply your logo in ordinary office software such as Word, Excel or Powerpoint as these programmes do not support graphics for print.
If you do not have a digital copy of your logo that you can supply then your current print supplier should be able to let you have a copy. For obvious reasons they may not be as keen to do this as you would hope. At Simply Letterheads we expressly say that any digital files we create in order to print your stationery remain yours and we will supply copies on request.
Colour
(Also see “All about colour”)
If your logo demands printing in spot colours please be sure to include with the file the specific pantone references of the colours. Alternatively supply a printed sample for us to match.
Getting your logo to us.
Please do not just email us a logo! Either supply it as an attachment to an emailed order or if you are phoning or faxing an order, wait for us to contact you with an order reference and specific email address to send it to.
