There is a lot to consider when buying envelopes!!
Purpose
An envelope is something that you put something in to post. It needs to contain the item and let you get an address on it. That’s easy isn’t it?
Maybe, but you need to consider a number of things when selecting your envelopes. The envelope, although normally opened and thrown away is also part of the message. If you are looking to project a high quality image and are using premium printed letterheads for your correspondence the envelope should reflect this too. Similarly a high quality glossy brochure should perhaps be mailed in a high quality envelope and certainly shouldn’t be folded. But is the same true of invoices and statements?

Seal
Standard envelopes are available as self seal as standard or for a slight premium as peal and seal. The premium Conqueror range is only available in what they call super seal which is effectively a peal and seal.
Printing
Having your envelope printed with your logo and company name can greatly increase the impact of any correspondence.
However, putting your company identity on your envelopes is not the only way that envelope printing may help you.
If the envelope is part of the message it can be used very successfully to increase awareness and anticipation in any direct marketing campaign before it is even opened and your leaflet and offer is looked at.
If you are undertaking significant mailings there are savings to be made by using printed postage impressions from Royal Mail. Of course, with deregulation, you no longer need to use Royal Mail for bulk mailings and the postage impressions of other carriers can equally be pre-printed on your envelopes.
The prices for printing envelopes that are quoted are for printing on one side. However, by opening the flap before printing it is possible to print on the front of the envelope and on the flap at the same time counting as printing on one side. This means you can, for example get your logo on the front of the envelope with a return address on the flap. Having a return address on your envelope is an effective way of keeping up to date if your contacts move allowing you to do some homework and find where they have moved to, or at the very least save money by not continuing to mail a redundant address.
